2016 - Okayama Award for Education for Sustainable Development
The Spinner Dolphin Project was among the 10 finalists worldwide to win the “Okayama Award 2016” for Education for Sustainable Development.
This demonstrated that we are aligned with our mission: to develop research, environmental education, community engagement, and sustainability activities for the conservation of dolphins, Fernando de Noronha, and marine biodiversity, and with our vision: to become a global reference in environmental conservation and sustainability in island ecosystems.
This award is promoted by the city of Okayama in Japan, selected as one of UNESCO’s partners for the Global Action Programme for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. For this reason, the city of Okayama launched, in 2015, the “Okayama Award” with the aim of promoting global practices in favor of Sustainable Development.
