It is part of the Brazilian Aquatic Mammal Strand Network/REMAB.
Role:
- Develop, implement and maintain a regional database on surveys of aquatic mammal strandings;
- Provide technical support in the adoption of conservation and management measures for species occurring in the region;
- Support research projects, conservation and management of this fauna group;
- Participate in national and international forums dealing with issues related to aquatic mammal stranding.
REMANE is coordinated by the Centro Mamíferos Aquáticos/CMA (Center for Aquatic Mammals), and its Managing Comity is formed by the founding institutions. One of them is the Centro Golfinho Rotador (Spinner Dolphin Center) and it is the institution responsible for the registration and care of any species of aquatic mammal around the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago.
